The 3 winning series of photographs were produced on assignment in Colombia, South Sudan and Indonesia for ACCION and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria. PX3 is one of Europe's premier photo contests and attracts thousands of entries from over 80 countries.

John Rae winner in Photo District New's flagship photo contest. John has been named a winner for 2 series of photographs in the PDN Photo Annual contest for photographs produced in 2011 on assignment in Rwanda, Colombia, and Papua New Guinea in 2012.

John Rae is winner in Photo District New's World in Focus photo contest. John's photograph of the Georgetown Ferry in The Gambia was named a winner in the Sense of Place category.

Paris: Px3 announces John Rae tripple winner in their 2011 photo contest. John Rae wins first, second, and third place in the Annual Report category. For photographs produced for the Global Fund on assignment in the Phillippines and Malawi. The contest attracts thousands of entries from 85 countries.

Photo District News announced the winners of its annual photo contest and John Rae has been named a winner in the Corporate Design Category. The winning photograph is from a series created for The Global Fund to Fight AIDs, TB, and Malaria on assignment in Malawi.

Communication Arts announced the winners of its 51st Annual photo contest and John Rae has been named a winner in the Annual Report category. CA photo contest attracts tens of thousands of entries from around the world and is one of the oldest and most prestigious contests in America. The winning photograph is of HIV outreach backstage at KTV bar/ brothel and was shot on assignment for Population Services International in Mengzi, China.

The International Photo Awards have announced the winners of their 2010 photo contest and John Rae has won second place in the Professional Annual Report Section. The winning photographs were produced on location in the last 12 months for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria in The Philippines, Tajikistan, Cuba, and Malawi.

The International Color Awards announced the winners of its 2010 photo contest and John Rae has been named a winner in the People Section and a nominee in the People and Photojournalism Sections. The winning photograph was chosen from thousands of entries from over 90 countries. The photo was shot on assignment with Will Smith in Zanzibar for the NGO Malaria No More.

Photo District News announced the winners of its annual photo contest and John Rae has been named a winner in the Corporate Design Category. The winning photographs are from a series created for ACCION, a Boston based microlending NGO, which supports the distribution of loans for small businesses in Tanzania, Africa. The photographs were chosen from over 20,000 entries from around the world.

The annual report category was taken by photographs produced in Cuba, Tajikistan, Georgia, and The Gambia for the Global Fund. The Portrait section was taken by a photograph produced on assignment in the Seti Valley in far western Nepal for the Global Fund. The contest attracts thousands of entries from 85 countries.

2008, October 27 Zurich: Credit Suisse is hosting “Helping Millions Help Themselves - The Art of Microfinance”, a photo exhibition by ACCION International from October 27 through November 13 in the Lichthof of the Bank’s headquarters building at Zurich’s Paradeplatz. The exhibit will bring to life the face of microfinance through the photographs of John Rae who has documented the programs in India, Nigeria, and Brazil of ACCION, one of the world’s leading microfinance organizations.

2007 May 22 Berlin: The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, Malaria presents “10 Minutes: 20 Lives” : a large-scale, outdoor, traveling photography exhibition in the streets of Berlin. The exhibition, “10 Minutes:20 Lives,” celebrates through the photography of John Rae the work going on around the world that saves the lives of thousands of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria patients every day.

The winningphotograph was produced on assignment for The Global Fund at the Palais Royal Men’s Club in Kingston, Jamaica. The Global Fund sponsors a program that provides free mobile HIV counseling and testing at various men’s clubs in the Kingston area.
