Off to Kenya and Tanzania for UNOPS

Supporting Maternal and Newborn Care in Kenya and Tanzania

UNOPS is building rural health care centers in coordination with UNICEF to support maternal and newborn health care. Distance from health centers is often cited as one of the primary reasons for low healthcare outcomes. Time to travel (often over days) to remote centers and the cost of travel is a major barrier for people who live in rural areas of developing countries. Bringing health centers closer to the populations they serve dramatically improves healthcare outcomes. John will produce stills, video and drone work for multimedia presentations.

Saving Fisheries

Going to Pacific Ocean off Oregon for EDF to Promote Sustainable Fisheries

The Environmental Defense Fund has asked John to work with their partners in Oregon to promote their sustainable fisheries program. John spent a day on a the commercial fishing boat Miss May feeling queasy as he produced video, stills, and flew a DJI Inspire drone. Landing a drone on a pitching deck in 15 foot seas is pretty tricky and John was happy to report that nobody got a bad haircut. The EDF program starts with science and includes community organizing, policy making, monitoring, and growing upscale markets for the fish.

Off to Tanzania to Promote Maternal Healthcare

John is off to Tanzania to shoot for World Bank GFF Program

The GFF is ending preventable maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent deaths and improving the health and quality of life of women, children, and adolescents. GFF is building a new model for development financing for the Sustainable Development Goals era. John will travel to rural Tanzania to spend 4 days working in and around a GFF supported health center to help promote the GFF. Click here to read more about the program.
