The International Photo Awards have announced the winners of their 2009 photo contest and John Rae has won second place in the Professional Annual Report Section. The winning photograph was produced on location for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria in far eastern The Gambia. The annual IPA contest attracts tens of thousands of entries from around the world.

Photo District News announced the winners of its annual Faces photo contest and John Rae has been named a winner in the Environmental Portrait Category. The winning series of photographs were shot on assignment for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria in Nicaragua, India, Vietnam, Guatemala, and Sri Lanka.

Paris: Px3 announces John Rae winner of first, second, and third places in their annual report section. First place was taken by a series of portraits made on assignment for ACCION International in India, Equador, Nigeria, Bolivia, and Ghana. Second place was taken by a photograph produced on assignment at the Imbari Shipyard in Japan for Genco Shipping. Third place was won by a photograph of a young mother with her new bed net produced on assignment in The Gambia for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria.

The Global Fund announces the opening of an outdoor exhibition featuring John Rae photographs entitled 20:50 on the lakefront promenade at quai Wilson in Geneva, Switzerland. This ongoing assignment to document successful Global Find projects has taken John to over 30 countries in the past 6 years.

Berlin Photo exhibition. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria has announced the photographic exhibition entitled 10 Minutes: 20 Lives. As part of The Global Funds advocacy and fund-raising effort for the G8 process and The Global Funds replenishment, an exhibition of John Raes photos is now showing at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Once the exhibition has done its work in Berlin, the exhibition (all 18 tons of it) will move to other European cities.
